German Comics

Not a speciality of mine, but I thought I'd give a mention to the German M.A.S.K. Comic.

I managed to get my hands on a few copies of this comic a few years back.  I was quite excited at the prospect of having some new material to read - even if it meant getting my colleague Annika or using Google to Translate it for me.

I was disappointed when they arrived to find that they were reprints of the US comics that I already have, translated into German.

Oh, well, at least I have them in my collection now.  Like I say, I don't know much about them so I can't say how long they were around for or if they eventually had some originally stories or not.  Perhaps one of our German Cousins Might be able to answer this question and add some comments to my blog below!

The Image to the right will be very familiar to readers of the US M.A.S.K. comic apart from being "dubbed" into German.

I believe that M.A.S.K. was very popular in Germany as well as the U.K. and Malaysia - the U.K. comic being sold to the Malaysian market.

  1. The German M.A.S.K. comic was indeed popular. After running out of US comics to publish, they used UK stories. They were even colored, though almost never correctly.
